Children's Research University

Introduction

The Department of Testing & Evaluation is one of the core departments operating under the Centre of Research. The department was established in 2022 and aligned with the CU Act (2009). Its works include setting up, conducting and promoting Research in the areas of testing & evaluation. Apart from this, the core work of the department is to develop standardized tests and tools to measure myriad aspects of Holistic Development of a child. The department is also aimed at conducting Educational Surveys to provide authentic information (Data/Database) on various dimensions of school education as well as on the development of children for strengthening the educational and child welfare planning of the state to facilitate the decision-making process. The department is also intended to play a vital role in the development of a stress-free examination system. Department will conduct researches in the area of examination reforms. At all, it intends to bring sea-change in the area of testing and evaluation.

Functions

Construct, adopt and apply educational and psychological tests and to provide standardized tools for the fostering of research activities in the field of holistic child development.
Conduct research in the area of examination reforms, examination anxiety, holistic approach of assessment for child development etc.
Organize faculty development program for teachers and principals, teacher trainees, moderators, paper setters and other stake holders with the aim of transforming assessment.
Work in the collaboration of National and International apex bodies in the areas of Testing and evaluation, to provide assistance for conducting surveys, make reservoir of researches on the languages, data analysis, tool construction, policy research at state level.
Study the works of pioneering institute and ongoing experiments of Gujarat, India and other parts of the world in the context of their evaluation system as indicated in the CU Act 5 (1, 8).
