The department of Psychology of Children’s university is interested in the holistic development of children upto the age of 18. Courses like M.Phil. in psychology, M.A in Child Psychology and PhD in psychology have started in 2016 and 2017 respectively. The origin of the Department of Psychology was one of the significant contributions by Prof K. S. Likhiya The former Vice—Chancellor of Children’s University. Dr. Ashok Prajapati was the first Professor in charge of the Department and He worked successfully to initiate these three courses. At present, the Department is headed by Prof. B. D. Dhila who has joined the department as professor in 2020.
To develop the skill and techniques of research in students of PG level, Project work and writing dissertation are introduced in the syllabus itself. The laboratory of psychology department is equipped with all the necessary instruments and psychological tests. The department is equipped with highly qualified and trained staff members so the students get the proper guidance regularly.
After completion of master degree, students get the guidance for Ph.D degree from the department. In addition to that students are encouraged to present their research papers in various conferences and seminars. Students also get the guidance for the preparation of UGC JRF/NET and GSET examination. In the post graduation courses there is a lot of emphasis on Child psychology so the students can get employment in the relevant areas of child development.

M.A. Psychology (Child Psychology)
Department of Psychology is one of the latest departments of studies of the university opened in the academic year 2017 offering MA (Psychology) programme. It is functioning under the School of Humanities.
A two-year master’s degree programme in Child Psychology is aimed at imparting students with rigorous practical and theoretical principles, as well as sound ethical, professional and research skills. The main feature of the course is to make the students familiar with field of Child psychology. The course also includes the students to develop a thorough understanding of the various approaches, theories, research methodology of the Child development. By completing the course student can develop sensitivity to understand the importance and relevance of various problems in child development and to introduce the ways that child psychology can be applied in real world settings. Demands for these professionals are high in the areas like: Hospitals, Schools, applied research settings, counseling, etc.

Department of Psychology offers PG programme (MA Psychology) of two years duration which are divided into four semesters & based on:
- Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)
- Specialization Child Psychology
Student centric model:
The instructions in various courses are mainly transacted through interactive classroom teaching, intensive student teacher interaction, assignments, group discussions, seminars, extension lectures, experiments and computers, the laboratory sessions have been designed to accelerate the learning. Besides field and lab training, students also undertake a project/dissertation on contemporary issues in children or adolescence, under the guidance of competent faculty members. Further the course will also focus on preparing the student for a career that directly impacts the lives of children, youth and families.
PhD Psychology
The programme aims to strengthen the scholars understanding theoretical Psychology, fundamentals of basic and applied research. A student acquires expert-level knowledge in one’s chosen area within psychology, develops research methodological skills, and conducts an original research. The Programme involves systematic and cumulative training in psychological research in order to prepare students for careers in practice, research, or academic settings. With the goal of preparing professionals or experts suitable to function competently in terms of academic, research, and community services, the department stands proactive and committed.
